Car:  Honda City (automatic, available with disable driver hand controls, electronic spinner knob, left-foot accelerator)

Connie commenced driver training in Queensland, then in 1994 moved to the Northern Territory where she quickly established a reputation for excellence. She has exceptional patience and training skills.
Connie now concentrates on Rehabilitation training/assessing in conjunction with Occupational Therapists, and "Special Needs" training/assessing.
Her car is comprehensively equipped with modern disabled driver aids such as:
  • Hand controls for accelerator & brake control: (allows for drivers with nopractical use of their legs & feet;
  • Left-foot accelerator pedal: (for drivers who use their left foot only);
  • Electonic spinner knob: (for one handed steering, and also facilitates operation of dashboard controls such as signals wipers etc.)
It is the only car thus equipped in the NT, and Connie is the only instructor in the NT with both qualifications AND experience to provide disabled driver & rehabilitation driver training and assessing (in conjuction with Occupational Therapists).

She is assisted by John when necessary in his manual vehicle (non-electronic spinner knob only).

John


JOHN ZIERSCH also known as "Zipper"

Car:  Suzuki Swift (manual), Mitsubishi Lancer (automatic)

John (Zipper) started his driver training career in 1995, first sub-contacting to a local driving school then working for IST (Industries Services & Training) as a trainer/assessor in cars, buses/coaches & heavy vehicles up to Heavy Combination(semi trailer). This work took him to all major NT centres including Darwin, Alice Springs, Katherine, Jabiru, Nhulunbuy, Yirrikala Gove and Tennant Creek where he set up a driver training centre for a local CDEP.
His duties with IST included classroom theory for heavy vehicle courses and the DTAL program.
In 2002 he joined the Connies Driving School group.

John has provided DTAL classroom theory for Darwin High School, Alice Springs High School, NT Christian College, St Johns Catholic College Darwin, Taminmin High School, Nhulunbuy High School and Yirrikala School.
He currently provides theory classes for the NT's DriveSafe NT program, and for the Multicultural Council of the NT's "Passport to Drive" program.
Like Connie, John is also qualified for disabled/rehabilitation training/assessing (but normally provides in manual vehicles).
